Plums
An expanding selection of Plum trees are offered for sale from dessert to culinary varieties. Plums ripen from July until September with most varieties ripening during August. There are Plum trees to buy to suit everyone. Choose from well known varieties such as Victoria to the less well known but just as desirable varieties. The different trees for sale are detailed below.
All Plums are available as bare root ‘maidens’ on moderate vigour St Julien A rootstock which will make a tree, where the fruit is pickable from ground level, and some Gloucestershire plums on vigorous Brompton rootstock.
Plums ripen from mid July into September. You may wish to choose a selection of trees and spread the picking time. These details are provided for each variety. You can see a summary on the ‘Picking & Storage’ advice page.

Plum trees are dispatched between early December and late March when dormant.
We have now updated our availability for winter 2025-26. You are welcome to advance order. We will then be in contact to arrange delivery or collection with dormancy from early December.

Blaisdon Red
St Julien A maiden (moderate): In stock £25.50A heavy fruiting culinary plum of good quality. Skin purple-red with a bloom. Sweet yet sharp flavoured golden coloured flesh.

St Julien A maiden (moderate): In stock £25.50A culinary plum but very good as a dessert when ripe. Dark purple skinned round / oval plums with yellow green flesh.

Denbigh
St Julien A maiden (moderate): In stock £25.50A dual purpose plum. Ripe by late August the plum is dark red with many small yellow dots and a blueish bloom. The golden yellow flesh is sweet & juicy.

Early Prolific
St Julien A maiden (moderate): In stock £25.50One of the earliest plums. Very good as a dessert plum when ripe. Otherwise a good plum for cooking and making jam. .

Evesham Wonder
St Julien A maiden (moderate): In stock £25.50Arose when different coloured fruit was found on a Yellow Egg tree. The medium sized oval fruits are bright glossy red. A culinary plum.

Grove’s Late Victoria
St Julien A maiden (moderate): In stock £25.50A sport of Victoria that ripens later. It has the same qualities as Victoria – an excellent dual purpose variety, large plums good to eat fresh or cook.

St Julien A maiden (moderate): In stock £25.50A very early reliable dual purpose plum that can ripen from early July. The roundish plums ripen to a blue/black colour with thick blue bloom.

St Julien A maiden (moderate): In stock £25.50A large, long, oval shaped purple plum with greenish yellow flesh of good quality. A reliable cropper suitable as a dessert or as a culinary plum.

Mann’s No 1
St Julien A maiden (moderate): In stock £25.50A number of ‘sports’ have arisen from Victoria. Mann’s No 1 is one of them fruiting a little earlier than the original.

Opal
St Julien A maiden (moderate): In stock £25.50A medium sized reddish purple dessert plum of very good flavour. An early alternative to Victoria. A good reliable self fertile variety.

Pershore Emblem
St Julien A maiden (moderate): In stock £25.50A new plum variety found in Pershore, Worcestershire. It produces plump dark purple skinned fruits with golden flesh. A very nice tasting dessert plum.

Purple Pershore
St Julien A maiden (moderate): In stock £25.50An excellent heavy cropping culinary plum that is enjoyable consumed fresh. Medium sized reddish purple plums, often lop sided with a neck towards the stalk.

St Julien A maiden (moderate): In stock £25.50Good quality early dessert plum. Medium sized, round/oval shape, dark red skin with a thick blue bloom. Yellow flesh with a good rich flavour.

Swan
Swan: In stock £25.50Swan produces quite round dark red skinned plums with a purple bloom. The flesh is juicy and sweet good for eating aswell as cooking.

Victoria
WUR S766 maiden (semi dwarfing): In stockSt Julien A maiden (moderate): In stock £25.50The most well-known plum. Deservedly popular and the main commercial plum in the UK. Very nice to eat when ripe and cooks & preserves well.

Yellow Egg
St Julien A maiden (moderate): In stock £25.50The original Pershore plum! For culinary use. Was grown much in the Vale of Evesham. Large yellow fruits. Self-fertile. Hardy, reliable, heavy cropping.
