Not usually seen in the shops the best way to the Gooseberry is to grow your own. Versatile plants they can be grown as bushes, as a half standard or as cordons. Happy in most fertile well drained soils even tolerating partial shade. Best if planted in a sheltered position. We do not grow Gooseberries ourselves, but are offering non organic bushes.
We are offering three varieties – two dessert and one culinary. The dessert varieties can be cooked aswell. Plant 1.5-1.8m (5-6′) apart and grow on a leg. Plant closer is space is limited and trim.

Gooseberry bushes are dispatched between late November and late March when dormant.
We have now brought sales to an end for winter 2021-22 with dormancy coming to an end. We are now looking forward to growing a fresh crop for winter 2022-23 which we will make available to reserve from July well ahead of supply from late November.
Hinnonmaki Red

A hardy mid-season red gooseberry. Hinnonmaki Red reliably produces good crops of large, sweet, red berries of excellent quality. An excellent variety as a dessert or for culinary use. Bred in Finland for hardiness and disease resistance being resistant to mildew. It is a slow growing variety so suitable for small gardens. Non organic plants.
Hinnonmaki Yellow

An excellent hardy, yellow fruiting mid-season variety. It is a heavy cropper of medium sized, greenish-yellow berries of excellent flavour. Bred in Finland for hardiness and disease resistance, being particularly resistant to powdery mildew. The fruit is sweet enough to be eaten straight from the bush and is delicious in desserts and preserves. Non organic plants.
Invicta

A culinary variety, easy to grow and high yielding. The berries are large, oval in shape with a smooth skin that ripens to a light yellow. Flavour even if picked early is very good. A strong grower so will quickly achieve its potential as a bush. Its habit is spreading and it is thorny!
