Herman is a very early reliable dual purpose plum that can ripen from early July. The roundish plums are of medium size with a distinct suture that is often broad and deep. Ripens to a blue/black colour with thick blue bloom. Greenish yellow flesh of good flavour. A variety to extend the plum season being the earliest to ripen. Self fertile.
A relatively new variety having been bred in Sweden at breeding station and known from 1972. Czar is one of its parents. Perhaps the early ripening was of benefit to Swedish fruit growers with their shorter summers.
