Medium to large light green pears covered with large areas of warm brown russet. White, salmon tinged flesh very juicy with a good flavour.

Black Worcester

Oval pears turn to dark mahogany. A culinary variety that does not soften enough to eat as a dessert but stores really well. A pear with a long history!

Barnet

A moderately vigorous variety that develops spreading head. Heavy cropping, starting at an early age. Russeted all over.

Blakeney Red

Pears quite large for a Perry pear. Yellow skin flushed red. Makes a good quality perry. Grows into a large tree, even very large in favorable conditions.

Brandy

Grows to be a small to medium sized tree. It is a good cropper from an early age. Skin pale green or yellowish green that is flushed bright red.

Grow to be a large tree of spreading, even drooping habit. One of the later picked varieties in early November. Produces a good quality fruity perry.

Dead Boy

A heavy cropping Perry Pear, whose name Dead Boy arose owing to the inedible nature of its fruit and perhaps alludes to the strength of the Perry.

Concorde

Compact and heavy fruiting Concorde produces medium sized light gold pears with some russetting. Sweet, juicy, melting pale yellow flesh. A good garden variety.

Gin

Of medium vigour with slightly spreading branching. Heavy cropping when it gets going. Pears have an almost round appearance.

A very old variety first mentioned in 1662. It produces round or oblate fruits that are harvested in the second half of October.

Hendre Huffcap

A variety with desirable qualities producing a pleasant light perry of good quality. Pears different in shape to many other Perry’s being elliptical.

Judge Amphlett

Pears yellow or greenish yellow sometimes with a reddish flush on sun exposed side. Produces a very pleasant medium acid, low tannin, light perry.

Littleton Late Treacle

Named as Littleton Late Treacle, because the parent tree, in Littleton in the Vale of Evesham, has all the attributes of Late Treacle but with no actual Late Treacle’s to cross reference with the prefix has been added.

Moorcroft

A deservedly widely grown Perry pear because of the high quality of its perry. Yellow green pears with russet at either ends or just around the eye.

Oldfield

The round fruits of Oldfield become green to yellow with russet at both ends. Produces a good quality medium tannin Perry. Grows into a small to medium sized tree for a Perry Pear.
