Grows to be a small to medium sized tree. It is a good cropper from an early age. Pears turbinate in shape. Skin pale green or yellowish green that is usually flushed bright red. Mill up to a month after gathering. Produces a rather dark strong perry.
Apparently became popular on smallholding in west Gloucestershire because of its smaller tree size but almost disappeared in 1950s with much grubbing up, but now not threatened because of more recent plantings.
