A red sport of Falstaff introduced in 1986. Fruits slightly oblong with flattened ends largely covered bright red. Of very good flavour, crisp and juicy. Heavy yielding, disease-resistant and a good pollinator. Excellent flavoured fruits that keep well. If you have room for just one tree then this would be a very good choice.
The small photo shows Red Falstaff with its apples still on the tree well into November. An excellent late dessert apple. It very quickly comes into bearing often in its first year after planting. It is usual to remove fruits in the first year, but if the tree(s) is growing well leave a few to develop.
Like a number of late apples Red Falstaff will keep well into the New Year in the right conditions like other red apples Topaz and Saturn, relatively new varieties that crop very well regularly.
