Arose when different coloured fruit was found on a Yellow Egg tree in the Vale of Evesham. This ‘Sport’ was propagated and introduced as a new variety – Evesham Wonder, in 1913. The medium sized oval fruits are bright glossy red. A culinary plum best grown for cooking & jamming.
There is little information on this variety or ‘sport’. We have not come across it in the Vale of Evesham in the years we have been growing. The photos of the fruits of Evesham Wonder were taken in mid August. They are from a ‘mother tree’ on the Nursery and are not the best. If there is anyone out there with a fruiting tree already they have had from us we would really like to hear from you!
