Rootstocks
We are able to offer ungrafted apple, pear and plum rootstocks for supply February & March for grafting, or for planting out before grafting at a later stage.
Sold individually, some of the apple rootstocks will have been grown on the nursery and will be harvested in January. Others will be bought in, some of it organic. For grafting the stems will be in the region of 8-11mm collar diameter.
A selection of grafting aids can also be supplied – grafting ties & sealant. They are detailed below the products.
Once we have harvested and received the rootstocks we will supply them February to late March for delivery or collection.
Having ordered we will send an automated acknowledgement and shortly take payment. We will then contact you when we are ready to arrange delivery or collection from February onwards. With rootstocks being smaller we will deliver orders up to 50 items for £17.00. For very small orders, up to 9 rootstocks, we will attempt to fit in a postal tube and send through the Post Office for £13.00.

Pear rootstock Pyrus Communis – vigorous
Out of stock £3.20A vigorous rootstock that in time will produce standard pear trees – trees with a canopy starting at 1.8m (6′). However they do not have to be grown as tall as this. Good for trees where grazing with sheep and cattle is anticipated. Two year non organic rootstocks.

Apple rootstock MM106 – moderate
Out of stock £3.20Produces trees of moderate vigour suitable for most situations producing trees of 4-5m (12-15′) eventually. Suitable for producing bush trees where fruit is of a nice pickable height, cordons and espaliers with a number of tiers. Ideal for grafting ornamental apples onto. Two year organic rootstocks.

Out of stock £3.20A semi dwarfing rootstock suitable for bush trees in situations such as small gardens, allotments. Good for cordons, small espaliers. Will grow to 2.5-3.5m (8-12′) eventually. Requires staking and support particularly on more exposed sites. Two year organic rootstocks.

Apple rootstock M9 – dwarfing
Out of stock £3.20A dwarfing rootstock that is used a lot in commercial orchards. Very productive. Needs permanent support. Good, well drained soil required as the roots will not grow far. Will make a small bush tree 2-2.5m tall. Good for step over trees, small cordons or growing in a container. Two year organic rootstocks.

Organic: Out of stockNon-Organic: Out of stock £3.20Another Malling Merton rootstock selection. MM111 is a vigorous rootstock that will comfortably grow varieties to be half standards. It can grow trees to 5-8m (16-25′) height & spread. Suitable for exposed sites. Two year rootstocks.

Wild Cherry rootstock F.12.1 – vigourous
Out of stock £3.20Wild Cherry F.12.1 is a selected form of Wild Cherry (Prunus avium) that will grow large standard trees up to a mature height of 6m. Wild Cherry F.12.1 is good for traditional orchards. Used widely in the past before development of more dwarfing cherry rootstocks. One year non organic rootstocks.

Grafting sealant
