CompareWild Cherry F.12.1 is a selected form of Wild Cherry (Prunus avium) rootstock that will grow large standard cherry trees up to a mature height of 6m. Good for traditional orchards.
Before the advent of more dwarfing cherry rootstocks, wild cherry would have been the only rootstock available. It would have been used commercially in orchards, like around Bewdley, Worcestershire in the 1800s, where there was a market for the fruit in the growing urban areas and the trees grew well.
Enjoys a deep well drained soil but is is reasonably tolerant of wet ground, but not very wet. One year non organic rootstocks.
