Gooseberry
Not usually seen in the shops the best way to the Gooseberry is to grow your own. Versatile plants they can be grown as bushes, as a half standard or as cordons. Happy in most fertile well drained soils even tolerating partial shade. Best if planted in a sheltered position. We are now pleased to be able to offer two varieties of Gooseberry as Organic plants. One variety is only available as non organic plants. Whether organic or non orgainic is explained in the product descriptions
We are offering three varieties – two dessert and one culinary. The dessert varieties can be cooked aswell. Plant 1.5-1.8m (5-6′) apart and grow on a leg. Plant closer is space is limited and trim.

Gooseberry bushes are dispatched between early December and late March when dormant.
You are welcome to advance order trees now (fruit bushes can be ordered from August). Payment will be taken when you place your order. We will then be in contact from early December to arrange delivery or collection.

Captivator (Organic)
Out of stock £10.50Captivator is a dual purpose gooseberry. The fruits ripen to a deep red by July. This Gooseberry benefits from being almost thornless having a spreading bushy habit. Soil Association certified Organic plants.

Hinnonmaki Red (Non-organic)
Out of stock £9.50A hardy mid-season red gooseberry. Hinnonmaki Red reliably produces good crops of large, sweet, red berries of excellent quality. An excellent variety as a dessert or for culinary use. Bred in Finland for hardiness and disease resistance being resistant to mildew. It is a slow growing variety so suitable for small gardens. Non organic plants.

Hinnonmaki Yellow (Non-organic)
Out of stock £9.50An excellent hardy, yellow fruiting mid-season variety. It is a heavy cropper of medium sized, greenish-yellow berries of excellent flavour. The fruit is sweet enough to be eaten straight from the bush and is delicious in desserts and preserves. Non organic plants.
