Winter Nelis is a good late pear cropping regularly producing juicy sweet fruits. Round conical in shape the small to medium sized pears with a long stalk have a rough skin that turns yellowish green but is heavily russetted more so at the eye end rather than around the stalk.
Not a strong grower so best grown on Quince A to give it some vigour. A good variety where a few pear varieties are being grown to extend the season. Raided in Belguim, like many other quality Pears, by Jean Charles Nelis in the early 1800s and introduced into the UK shortly after in 1818.
Only a few trees available.
