An excellent quality pear – creamy white flesh, melting, juicy, with a rich sweet flavour and balancing acidity. Medium sized fruit ripening to yellow green with pink red flush. A reliable cropper. Introduced in 1947 from Wisley, Surrey.
Will not pollinate Doyenne du Comice and vice versa.

A fine pear of excellent flavour – the lovely perfumed flesh that sometimes tastes of vanilla is juicy, sweet & melting. Thought by some to be the finest of pears. Medium to large fruits nearly as wide as tall. Yellow, some with a pink flush. Appreciates a warm sunny position.

A dessert pear that arose in Belguim around 1759 but grown in the UK particularly in Victorian times. Its name means ‘delicious morsel’. The variety has spread throughout the world including the southern hemisphere being valued for its quality and long ripening period into the following year. It is a very good garden pear that requires a sheltered situation particularly if grown away from southern England.

Many Pear varieties raised in France and Belgium are prefixed Beurre (meaning butter). Not all grow well in the UK but this variety does. Medium to large light green pears covered with large areas of warm brown russet. White, salmon tinged flesh very juicy with a good flavour.
