Pierre Corneille is an excellent tasting, handsome pear. The medium sized conical shaped pears ripen to have a fine cinnamon russet over warm golden brown skin. The creamy white flesh is very juicy, melting, rich in flavour – sweet with balancing sharpness. Can be stored a long time until the end of the year.
Arose in France becoming known from 1892. One of a number of varieties studied for growing commercially in France. As a result recommended in 1974 but uptake was limited because of storage difficulties and skin bruising. However it is very good as a garden pear. Rootstock: Quince A
