Lapins cherry is a modern self fertile dessert cherry that was initially raised in Canada. The large cherries ripen to dark red or even verging on black by mid July. Red sweet juicy flesh.
Lapins seems to have some resistance to splitting which can be a common experience if grown in the open without any protection.
Introduced from Canada in 1984 from a breeding programme where a number of cherry varieties have arisen and found their way into the UK. Other self fertile cheries that we grow include Stella, Sunburst & Summersun is partially self fertile.
