Pitmaston Russet is good quality late russet. Of medium size, flattish shape the rich flaured apples will keep until early in the New Year. The skin is bright green with varying amounts of bronze coloured russet.
It was raised at Pitmaston Nursery, Worcester by John Williams, first fruiiting in 1814 and introduced in 1818. It is one of three apples with links to Pitmason Nursery. The two others are Pitmaston Pineapple & Pitmaston Golden Pippin, which is now a lost variety.
Sometimes called Pitmaston Nonpareil or Pitmaston Russet Nonpareil
