Discovered mid to late 1800s around the village of Blaisdon just to the east of the Forest of Dean. Being such a prolific cropper of good quality suitable for cookig, preserving and eating fresh it became much grown in Gloucestershire from the late 1800s until other varieties and imports superceded it.
