Ben Hope is a very high yielding variety, producing medium sized berries on long strigs. Has a very good flavour. It is a strong grower with an upright habit and good disease resistance. Because of this it is a good variety for organic growing.
The weight of the crop can bring the branches lower but they revert back to their more upright poistion after harvesting. Ben Hope has good resistance to most foliar diseases, and is resistant to Gall Mite, Big Bud & Reversion.
A mid season variety with cropping from early July through the month. Available as non organic bushes.
Grown as stool plants. Plant a little deeper than on the nursery so the lowest buds are below soil level and reduce the the branches to 2 or 3 buds above soil level. This will encourage basal shoots frtom below the soil level.
