This interesting dessert apple has many good qualities. The small to medium round apples have a dark red almost purple skin colour with lots of crazing making it a good looking apple. Very late to ripen. Pick late October, but really too hard at this time so store. Keeps well, until February or March in suitable conitions. The flesh is yellowish white and becomes sweet & firm. Spurs freely and quickly into fruiting.
Little is recorded anywhere about this variety, which first came to light in a 1945 County fruit trial but it is a local variety well worth growing.
