A heavy cropping Perry Pear, whose name Dead Boy arose owing to the inedible nature of its fruit and perhaps alludes to the strength of the perry. The turbinate shaped fruit has yellowish green skin that rarely becomes flushed. Its stalk is thick and fleshy almost merging with the fruit. The fruit is harvested mid October ahead of milling shortly after.
In maturity Dead Boy makes a large tree with the main trunk often continuing as a central leader with some quite upright large limbs from which many descending branches grow.
