Espalier – Greensleeves
£45.00
Pre-trained as a single-tier espalier, this tree is ideal for growing against a wall or fence. When mature, it takes up less area than a normal bush tree. See the Espaliers product category for details. Collection only, as it’s containerised and too bulky to deliver. Unlike most of our trees, we can supply espaliers all year round if we have them in stock.
A quite different dessert variety from most with pale green skin sometimes with a slight orange flush. Fruits crunchy and sweet when eaten fresh. Makes a roundish shape often with slight ribbing and distinct crowns at the apex. The pale skin makes the lenticels on the surface conspicuous.

Well-flavoured apple – nutty, aromatic. Keeps well. A trouble free variety with golden yellow skin largely covered crimson red and patches of fine russet. Apples have a distinctive conical shape – tapering from the base to a flattened apex. A partial tip-bearer but grows well as an espalier.

A good alternative to Bramley. The tree is diploid so is a pollinator of other apples, Bramley is triploid so does not pollinate other apples. Another advantage it has over Bramley is that it is not so vigorous, being a compact grower suitable for smaller gardens and responds well to being grown in restricted forms.

A good garden variety of compact habit. Fortune produces medium sized round apples largely coloured bright red. Mostly round in shape with some ribbing at the apex. Also known as Laxton’s Fortune being bred at Laxton’s Nursery, Bedford. Sweet, juicy with acidity. Hardy and suitable for the north and west.

Also known as ‘Red Pippin’, skin much flushed bright red. Good cropping. Fruit sweet and juicy with balancing acidity similar to Cox which is one of its parents. Always enjoyed at our Apple day events during October. Suitable for growing in most parts of the UK. This variety has some self fertility which is very uncommon in apples, but will always do better with other varieties around.
