A wide selection of dessert apple trees are offered for sale. To buy and grow your own apple tree gives you the opportunity to indulge in the many tastes that they offer. From the sharp sweetness of Fiesta to the drier nutty flavour of Egremont Russet or Adam’s Pearmain. To pick and eat an apple straight from the tree is to eat it at its best.
As fruit tree growers we offer a wide selection of dessert apple trees for sale including many traditional varieties that have been with us for many years as well as some modern varieties developed in the UK and on the continent that taste great and have good disease resistance. Trees are available as barerooted one year ‘maiden’ trees.
Apples ripen through the autumn. You may wish to choose a selection of trees and spread the picking time. These details are provided for each variety. For a helpful overall guide click here. You can also see a summary on the ‘Picking & Storage’ advice page.
Apples require a pollination partner. Each variety has a flowering period between A – early and E – late. A variety can be pollinated by another of the same flowering group or one to either side. These details are provided for each variety. For an overall summary visit the pollination advice page.

Apple trees are dispatched between late November and March when dormant.
We have now brought sales to an end for winter 2021-22 with dormancy coming to an end. We are now looking forward to growing a fresh crop for winter 2022-23 which we will make available to reserve from July well ahead of supply from late November.
Cevaal

Bred from Cox crossed with earlier ripening Duchess of Oldenburg. The result is an excellent Cox like apple with an excellent rich honeyed flavour. Flesh crisp, juicy & tinged yellow. Attractive medium sized apples with yellow skin flushed red. A very good early season variety.

Discovery

Very good early eater – crisp juicy and sweet. One of the earliest dessert apples picked from mid August. Almost all covered bright crimson. The flesh can also be tinged pink around the edges. Consume quickly after picking as the apples will not keep. Disease- resistant and suitable for colder areas. A partial tip-bearer but grows well as an espalier.

Doddin

An unusual apple mostly found around Redditch, Worcestershire. The apples are bright green, smooth skinned and turn somewhat yellowish as they become ripe in late July / early August. They are small and somewhat elongated. Juicy and sweet. Ripening early they do not keep so should be consumed quickly.

Greensleeves

A quite different dessert variety from most with pale green skin sometimes with a slight orange flush. Fruits crunchy and sweet when eaten fresh. Makes a roundish shape often with slight ribbing and distinct crowns at the apex. The pale skin makes the lenticels on the surface conspicuous.

James Grieve

A very well known variety. The medium-large apples are warmly coloured yellow striped with orange. Excellent flavour, sweet with an acid balance. If picked early when sharp they make very good culinary apples. Round conical in shape they will not keep for a long time. Hardy and a good pollinator. Rootstock: MM106 & M26.

Katy

Produces bright red apples conical in shape in early September. Refreshing taste with slight acidity. Skin shiny and smooth. Bred from Worcester Pearmain and James Grieve in Sweden, where is was named Katja, so has some of the attributes of both. Rootstock: MM106, M26

Red Devil

Bright red apples that seem to gain their colour very early. Medium to large evenly sized flat round apples. When sliced through the flesh is often reddened to varying degrees. Apples have a really nice fruity, strawberry flavour. Good disease resistance suitable for most areas of the UK. Rootstock: MM106 & M26

Similar to Cox but more disease resistant and easier to grow. Heavy regular crops of smallish flat-round apples with golden skin striped red. Thinning in early summer will increase fruit size. Flavour very good – crisp, juicy and sweet with sharpness. Very good garden apple suitable for most areas of the UK.

Tydeman’s Early Worcester

A very useful early dessert apple. Good sized fruits that are round or round conical. Its skin colour becomes pale yellow greatly flushed crimson red with purplish crimson stripes. Apples are richly flavoured – sweet with a little acidity. Picked from mid August into September. This variety is a tip bearer so is best avoided for growing as a cordon or espalier.

Worcester Pearmain

Who has not heard of this variety?! Fruit almost completely flushed brilliant red. Sweet with a strawberry flavour. – allow fruit to fully ripen on tree for the best flavour. Reliably cropping. Has become a parent of a number of well known varieties including Tydeman’s Early, Winston, William Crump. Inclined to tip bearing, best not grown as an espalier or cordon. A very good early dessert.
