A cross between a Blackberry and a Raspberry and produces its fruit from early July until mid August. Like the Loganberry leave to ripen on the canes until dark red. Large, long sweet fruits up to 5cm long. The canes are moderately vigorous and quite prickly.

The Tayberry was first bred in the 1970s at the Scottish Crops Research Institute from Blackberry 'Aurora' & a tetraploid Raspberry. A tetaploid plant has twice the amount of chromosones as a normal plants resulting in more vigour and greater cropping. The Tayberry is heavier cropping, larger fruits & is more vigorous than the Loganberry.
