King Coffee

  • Price: £16.00

A dessert apple with an interesting name. The apples ripen in October to a deep maroon with dark red striping and obvious lenticels. The sweet juicy flesh only has the faintest hint of coffee taste however. The apples are of a good size somewhat flat round and will keep until Christmas.

Quite late flowering. The tree seems to be one of the latest to come out of dormancy with bare branches when many other apple varieties are into flower.

Though apparently grown for many years previously King Coffee only came to prominence in the 1930s when exhibited at an RHS Fruit conference and shortly after graftwood was supplied to the National fruit trials.
